Heart Disease

Your doctor may talk to you about conditions in your life that increase your risk of heart disease. These conditions are called "risk factors". The more risk factors you have, the more you are in danger of a heart attack. The combination of high cholesterol and two additional risk factors is serious. Even more serious is high cholesterol in a person who has a coronary heart disease. If you have either of these combinations or high cholesterol alone (LDL cholesterol of [4.1 mmol/L] or higher) you need to speak with your doctor as soon as possible.
