Overview

Partnerships

All scientists working at the Merck Frosst Centre for Therapeutic Research are encouraged to publish their work and interact with their professional colleagues in the wider academic world. In fact, national recognition within the profession is important for career progression within the company.

The on-going interaction with academia and a speaker program bring a campus atmosphere to the Research Centre at Kirkland. Researchers participate in international conferences and many of our breakthroughs have resulted from these important exchanges of ideas.

We collaborate with other organizations at all levels of research, from basic science to pharmaceutical R&D.

Partnerships with Universities

Our researchers have adjunct professorships in the following universities:

  • Concordia University
  • Dalhousie University
  • McGill University
  • Université de Montréal
  • University of British Columbia
  • University of Ottawa
  • University of Toronto

Joint research projects are currently on-going with many universities in a variety of disciplines.

We offer placements for Ph.D. and M.Sc. graduate studies projects and post-doctoral research.

The Research Centre has an extensive co-op program. Each year around 30 undergraduate students join us for 4- to 8-month internships.

Merck Frosst Canada Ltd. has endowed chairs in several universities.

Partnerships with public research centres and institutes

Collaborative projects are in place with a number of external research centres including:

  • Biotechnology Research Institute (Montréal, Québec)
  • Robarts Institute (London, Ontario)

Partnerships within the industry

We often work collaboratively with other pharmaceutical, biotechnology or services companies, both on specific research programs and to advance technology in a particular direction for the good of the industry as a whole.
